Information on the cameo[]

Vikings were Germanic Norse seafarers who raided and traded in Scandinavia and Northern Europe during the time of the Viking Age (793–1066 AD). During their journeys, they were the first to have settled in both Greenland and Iceland, and likely discovered portions of eastern Canada without permanently settling there. They established settlements throughout Europe, as well and played major roles in the history of Medieval Europe. For one, Viking raids in Anglo-Saxon England played a role in allowing the Anglo-Saxons to develop a collective identity, which in turn laid the groundwork for the eventual foundation of the Kingdom of England in 927 AD. The Viking Rollo also founded the Duchy of Normandy after he was granted that land by Charles the Simple of West Francia in exchange for baptism and promising to defend West Francia's lands from other Viking raiders (its people, who became known as the Normans would eventually conquer England under William the Conqueror in 1066 and even reconquer Sicily from the Muslims in 1061). In the East, Viking traders would turn the city of Kyiv into an important trading hub and in 862 the Viking Rurik would eventually found Kyivan Rus', which was the first state to politically unify much of the Eastern Slavic peoples (and thus the predecessor of the modern countries of Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia). Some notable Vikings include Erik the Red, Leif Erikson, Ragnar Lodbrok, Rurik, Rollo, and Harald Bluetooth.

While the Vikings are shown wearing horned helmets, in reality, the horned helmets attributed to the Vikings actually appear 2,000 years before the Viking Age and were no longer used by the time of the Viking Age. The notion that Viking helmets had horns actually dates to the 1876, when the first performance of Richard Wagner's opera series Der Ring des Nibelungen showed the Norse deities wearing horned helmets.

Appearance in the rap battle[]

The Vikings were seen sailing in several Viking ships during Thor's second verse. Thor later kicked one of the Vikings' dogs off the ship.
